What's New at the Store
Dear friends: we are very pleased to finally spill the beans that Turning the Tide will reopen in conjunction with a new community organizing centre in Saskatoon! We are launching a partnership with The Stand – Community Organizing Centre to share a common space and resources.
On January 27, 2015, we completed our last day of sales at Turning the Tide’s 525 11th St. East location. In December 2014, our building came under new ownership and we were given until the end of January to vacate. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us pack and move. It was a huge effort and we couldn’t have done it without a lot of helping hands.
Please read on for info about how to do special book orders from us in the meantime, where else to buy books in Saskatoon, returning rented DVDs to us, and our future plans.
Dear friends and supporters: after over 11 years of bringing books and resources focussed on social justice and environmental sustainability to Saskatoon, Turning the Tide Bookstore has received notice to vacate our location off Broadway by January 31, 2015. Our property, which includes both the small house currently housing Turning the Tide and the historic Farnam Block Building which was formerly home to Lydia’s Pub, was recently sold and the new owners have informed us that they have plans for the property which cannot accommodate our business in its current location.
Please read on for more information about our plans.
Every year about this time, we compile a list of some of our favourite titles that have come out over the past year to help you match up that person in your life who would appreciate a literary treat this holiday season. 2014 has truly been a stellar year for books with two ground-breaking books on economics and climate change becoming #1 international best sellers.
