What's New at the Store
There aren’t many months as beautiful as June in Saskatoon. With warm weather, trees blossoming, and gardens growing, it is really a fantastic time to be in the city. For many of us, the approaching summer is when we get to do most of our reading for enjoyment (rather than work or school). As a result, we have put our entire fiction section on sale for the month of June.
We are also starting a Climate Solutions Book Club for those interested in learning more about how our communities can address our energy needs in a sustainable and just way. We have more great DVD and BluRay rentals to keep you entertained and informed on those weekends out of the city or just when you want to escape the heat. And as always, a schedule full of great events at The Stand – Community Organizing Centre help build community and the movements for social and environmental change.

Turning the Tide has been providing textbooks for university and college courses for over a decade. We have accounts set up with dozens of textbook suppliers large and small and have excellent turn-around time on books ordered. We handle everything from introductory courses with hundreds of students to seminars with only a handful of students.

At Turning the Tide, we are celebrating May 1, International Workers’ Day all month long with specials on book about labour history and the current struggles of workers for better working conditions and workplace democracy. We recommend checking out this article from ROAR Magazine about the history of May Day which is also a chapter in the newly arrived book by Peter Linebaugh entitled “The Incomplete, True, and Wonderful History of May Day.“
Check out our great selection of gardening books (20% off) throughout April 2016, terrific events including the new monthly Ecological Literacy meetup, and ways to support the new community organizing centre, The Stand, that houses Turning the Tide!
