With our new location at 615 Main St. and partnership with The Stand Community Organizing CentreTurning the Tide is continuing to bring presence at community events, as well as hosting events, public and private meetings, and community classes. Check out some of these noteworthy happenings for September 2016:


Labour Day BBQ:

Saskatoon & District LABOUR COUNCIL

Monday, September 5th at Victoria Park (beside Riversdale Pool) 11:30 am – 1:30 pm

Broadway Street Fair:

Broadway Ave., Saskatoon

Saturday, September 10th 10 am – 5 pm

Turning the Tide will bring our books onto the street at the annual 33rd Broadway Street Fair! It is Broadway’s largest one day event of the year, drawing thousands to the street. We’re not going to lie, it has been a rough few months for merchants and our staff with some businesses having closed their doors permanently due to lack of sales. As construction winds up, we invite you back to the Broadway District to visit, hang out, and support your favorite merchants and services!  Read more

We are pleased to announce that Nutritious Movement founder and author Katy Bowman will be stopping in Saskatoon to host a Q & A (in the Community Room at Brainsport) and sign books at Turning the Tide on September 17! Read more

Word on the Street:

Sunday, September 18th 10:30am – 5pm on 23rd Street and 4th Avenue Downtown Saskatoon

The Word On The Street Saskatoon is a FREE public festival that celebrates the written word and champions literacy through an annual outdoor book and periodical fair that has taken place across Canada for over 25 years. The event will showcase more than 50 authors on 5 main stages, providing a wide variety of presentations for audiences from 2 to 92. This year’s festival features David Suzuki, Dr. Norman Doidge, Bif Naked, Food Bloggers of Canada, and the creators of the Fancy Nancy series! Read more

Climate, Food and the Future

Sunday, September 18th 7pm at the Broadway Theatre, Saskatoon

Dr. David Suzuki is an award-winning scientist, environmentalist, and broadcaster. He holds a Ph.D in zoology and genetics, has won numerous academic awards, and holds 25 honorary degrees from academic institutions in Canada and around the world. He was elected to the Royal Society of Canada and is a Companion of the Order of Canada. Dr. Suzuki has written 52 books. David will be joined by Ian Mauro and Darrin Qualman.
